It appears that the hackers gained access to the university’s internal data. A complaint has been filed. According to Wilkin, this is the second such incident within a short time.
According to management, Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU) has been temporarily cut off from the internet following an attack warning. According to THU, the hackers had access to the internal data network.
Internal and external experts are currently analyzing the consequences of a cyber attack. Network connectivity has been partially restored, but individual services are still restricted.
The university filed a complaint and notified the state data protection officer. The attack had already occurred on Saturday, November 12th. But only now the former technical college has become public with her.
Electronic attack on Ulm University of Applied Sciences
According to THU, it was found that the names and email addresses of university members were accessed without authorization. There is a risk that these addresses will be used for spam, which members of the university have already been warned about. Further data flow is not yet known.
During the ongoing analysis, individual services and access to the university are not available. However, teaching continues in person and via online events and university members can be reached by email. It is also possible to apply for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
