Electronic proof of identity
As part of the Digital Days, the Federal Office of Justice will also introduce state-recognized electronic proof of identity (E-ID). This promises Media-free processes in management and companies, which today cause unnecessary efforts on the part of the population as well as on the part of management and companies.
The Federal Office of Justice discusses the draft consultations on Swiss country E-ID. The state acts as publisher and ensures the operation of the necessary trust infrastructure. Users should have as much control as possible over their data and the system itself (privacy by design) should ensure data is protected. In addition to the data economy, this should also enable decentralized data storage. The law will be drafted in a technologically neutral way in order to be able to respond to developments, but it must remain in line with international standards so that the identity card is also accepted abroad.
