Mega Millions jackpot rises to $790 million

(CNN) – The Mega Millions jackpot jumped to $790 million after tickets didn’t match all six winning numbers in Friday night’s drawing.

Friday’s winning numbers were 14, 40, 60, 64 and 66 plus the giant Golden Ball 16, according to the lottery’s website.

The lottery said tonight’s prize of $630 million is equivalent to about $388 million in cash.

The next drawing is scheduled for Tuesday, with an estimated prize money of $464.4 million.

“Only three lottery jackpots have been won, in any game, above Tuesday’s $790 million prize pool,” the lottery said in a press release.

Two of those were Mega Millions: $1.537 billion in South Carolina on October 23, 2018 and $1.05 million in Michigan on January 22, 2021.

The $1,586,000 million Powerball jackpot is currently the world record, having been won on January 13, 2016.

Although no one drew for all six numbers, there were four big winners on Friday when the first five numbers were drawn. In the case of three of these tickets – which were sold in Delaware, New Jersey and New York – they chose the Megaplier, with each awarding a prize of US$3 million. A ticket for the fourth game five was sold in Virginia and was worth $1 million, according to the lottery.

Four major prizes have been won this year in Tennessee, California, New York and Minnesota.
