16 cases of monkeypox confirmed in France

(AFP) France has recorded 16 “confirmed” cases of monkeypox. Health authorities said on Sunday.

Of the 16 cases recorded as of Saturday, 12 were detected in the Paris region.

The Minister of Health, Brigitte Bourguignon, had indicated that the authoritiesShe did not expect a “wave” of the disease, and that the state has sufficient reserves of vaccines for cases of contacts.

And the Directorate General of Health indicated, on Friday, that the first two people, considered to have been in contact with monkeypox, were vaccinated in Paris.

Monkeypox is a rare disease, known to humans since 1970.
