After several years of waiting, as well as a series of mysterious developments and new rumors DeLorean. Now, it’s a 10 percent electric car, with a luxurious and sporty feel, which is what it will be called Alpha 5.
Designed by Italdesign, just like its predecessor, the Alpha5 features smooth and futuristic lines, as well as some distinguishing elements of the legendary DMC-12, the car that shone in the trilogy Back to the future.
The first thing that stands out is the use of “gull-wing” doors, similar to the doors of the DMC-12. According to DeLorean, Alpha5 is considerably more streamlined than its predecessor, replacing square shapes with more fluid strokes. In the same way, the rear glass hidden under the light wings and large wheels stands out.
At the front, LED lighting combines with the grille to light up the “DeLorean” name in the middle. At the back, this thin line philosophy continues with the skulls, which form a larger body when assembled at the ends of the back.
The DeLorean Alpha5 is 4.99m long, 2.04m wide and just 1.3m high. These dimensions make it slightly smaller than, for example, the Porsche Taycan.
Inside, the brand’s futuristic spirit embodied in DMC-12 It exists. The instrument panel is dominated by a large digital group accompanied by a second screen in the middle where it seems that the parameters of the car can be controlled.
The cabin design is very clean, incorporating materials like brushed aluminum and light leather for a spacious feel. Among other things, multiple cargo spaces and four individual seats stand out.
DeLorean did not detail what we could find mechanically, but they confirmed that from the basic version we will find a 100 kWh battery with a range of 483 km per charge.
Power is still uncertain, but DeLorean claims that the Alpha5 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km / h.
All the details Alpha 5 They will be revealed on August 18 during their official presentation at the Pebble Beach Concours of Elegance. For now, DeLorean will upgrade its US plant to start manufacturing the final Alpha5 model as soon as possible.
Likewise, they confirmed that they are working on a V8 sports coupe, electric sedan and hydrogen truck over the next few years.
