ST. CHARLES, MO (KMOV/Grey News) – A 23-year-old paramedic was killed when gym equipment fell on her while working at a fitness club early Tuesday morning.
Police said the bizarre incident happened around 2:50 a.m. when no one else was in the gym. Dolores “Dolo” Boschert was found dead under equipment by a gym goer when they entered the gym about 30 minutes after the accident.
The gym member who found Boschert tried to help and called 911.
Police said Bouchart was squatting on Smith’s machine when her legs came out and she was trapped under the crossbar. A Smith machine is a weighing machine consisting of a rod that is bolted inside steel rods, allowing only vertical movement. It is most common to perform squats.
Boschert worked as a paramedic at Christian Hospital EMS and was awarded the title of Paramedic a week before her death.
In a Facebook post, Christian Hospital EMS said they would miss out on Boschert’s “vibrant” energy.
“She has always brightened up any room she entered with her bright personality and overflowing energy,” the post read. “He had the best perspective on life and can always see the positivity in all situations. We are grateful for the memories we made with Dolores that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.”
The St. Charles Fitness Club is located about 25 miles northwest of St. Louis.
